Here I go again (on my own) Detox take 2, day one

And so it begins, again.

My first go round with the 21 day Martha's Vineyard detox was about 1 year after darling Anna was born. And now, her little sister Meg is 18 months and it is time. I feel like I've been putting this off for too long, but the reality is, Megan was still breastfeeding until about a month ago. And I'm not sold on a detox regimen while baby is getting breastmilk.

Because I have 2 active girls, limited resources, a low tolerance for anything that takes longer than my usual meal planning, and my generally disorganized personality, I have decided I really can't go full speed with this detox.

So here is the "plan"

- For one week, starting today
- I will attempt to stick to the original detox juices every 2 hours
- I will abstain from meat, but will otherwise eat the same lunch as my family, just smaller portions
- for breakfast and dinner I will drink my juice and eat cooked vegetables and limited amounts of fruit, I don't have time to puree my veggies.
- I will do at least one coffee enema for every week I am following the detox
- After one week, I will re-evaluate and decide if I will try for 14 days.
- after 21 (or 14, or 7) days I will begin the reintroducing of non vegetable foods

I felt SO good after my 21 day detox a few years ago, I cant believe it has taken me this long to get back to it, but being pregnant and breastfeeding, those just aren't good times to detox.

So today went well. It isn't as hard as I imagined. I juiced my greens in the morning, stored the extra in the fridge and have been drinking it all day. I bought bottled antioxidant blend (the fruity pink powder from detox #1) it was on sale for $10, at TJmaxx of all places, and it is a month's supply. Also got aloe juice for the same price. Amazing Grasses Super Greens blend (gag gag that stuff down) My colon cleanse is simply WHOLE psyllium husk, 1 Tbsp 3x day, with LOTS of water, the psyllium husk colon cleanse is supposed to be for 3 months, but I am already through the first 2 months, so that works out nicely.  I'm skipping the digestive enzymes, my aloe juice is a blend that includes them, so I will take that every day. I am well stocked with tea. Oh, and I am not doing the colonic. I know it would be good for me, and I would like to set up appointments some day, for hubby and I both to go several times, but financially it is not a priority. Plus who wants to take their precious moments of time off and get their colon flushed and then feel like crap the rest of the day? And then have 2 hyper (but super cute) girls running circles around you, wanting to play or dance or go go go anywhere. So, that is a solid "no" to the colon hydrotherapy this detox.

The main reason for this detox right now is the same as the last detox. I want and need to lose that extra baby weight, I will be healthier and feel better 20 pounds lighter. Also, we are planning to actually TRY for baby #3 in August, not that we have been avoiding getting pregnant. But with hubby working nights, big sis not napping anymore . . . it might take a bit more intentionality this time. So if I can lose the weight, get healthy(-ier, -ish) I probably wouldn't have written that, about baby #3, we aren't really announcing it to family. I dont want the questions, in case it takes us a while to conceive. but I feel like I am just throwing this post out in the wind.

Which brings me to my biggest concern
Last detox I had my mom here visiting the first week and it was so helpful to have her join me in detoxing, organizing, complaining about our bland blended soups. Realizing together that 9pm is not the time to do a coffee enema. And then she went home, but my good friend and her husband started their detox. And shared soup recipes, supplied moral support and a healthy sense of humor. But this time, I am detoxing on my own. No one is holding me accountable. Except me. Which is why I thought I might start blogging again. Besides, there is nothing good on television these days and I cant snack if I am typing. So there it is. I will try and write every night after the kiddos are asleep.

oh and I forgot 2 goals.
- in bed by 10pm
-up by 6 to get in a little "workout"

Disclaimer: the words "plan" and "workout" are not used in the tradtional webster's dictionary definition sense. A "plan" is vague guidelines and to "workout" might be 15 minutes of stretching, T-Tapp, figuring out how to use my new 10 lb kettlebell or laughing as I work my core with the big yellow exercise ball. Or if the kids are up, trying to do one of the above with someone hanging on my legs or arms, trying to avoid stepping on them as they imitate me and finally giving up and having a 15 minute dance party instead.
