Pretty good day. Grandma made some super yummy black beans and we made rice for the guys. And grilled cheese. My mouth waters just thinking about it. Of course I ate only the beans, pureed. They still tasted good. My weight is the same as yesterday. Holding at 5 pounds lost is okay.
It isn't as difficult as I thought it would be, watching Grandma start coming off the detox, eating her salad for lunch. It helps that she gave me a pair of her jeans that now no longer fit. And they look really nice, and slimming. It is encouraging to look nice in something. To look in the mirror and not cringe or wonder where you went. I have lost water weight, I can tell by my face. I feel so good, energetic. My knees don't hurt anymore. And I realized tonight, the past couple days I've put baby down to sleep, I am able to bend a little easier and am more flexible when I lay her in the crib.
I find I have to remind myself to drink teas now, so easy to get busy, but the teas keep me hydrated and full. Didn't make it out for a walk today. The snow and colder weather weren't tempting me outdoors. I wish I had, need to go to the mall if tomorrow is cold. Looking forward to riding my bike again.
The one thing that I thought would improve, but it really hasn't, it mental clarity. If anything my brain fog has gotten a little worse. I feel kind of "spacey", you know when you walk into a room and then wonder what you were after. After some quick internet searching I stumbled on one possible answer to this. No protien. So I think a daily serving of pureed beans and yogurt (separately :) will remedy this. It might not be strictly following the diet, but I am in this for improved health and if I am going to last the 21 days concessions must be made. At least for me. I already had my homemade yogurt on the menu, but ran out of it a few days ago. I kept meaning to make a new batch, and then forgetting, again with the brain fog.
Hubby is a little worried I won't be able to keep up with all the soup making, powder stirring, tea sipping, veggie juicing this diet requires AND take care of baby. I think he doesn't want me to be disappointed if I end this early, or get frustated with myself if I can't "do it all". How well he knows me, and after only 2 years of marriage. But I am trying to be level-headed (even with a foggy brain :) and just take it one day at a time. If there is one thing I know, it is that holding on to my own will too tightly always leads to stress and eventually disappointment. So I will do my best to be flexible with the schedule, focusing on the purpose of the detox, rather than a rigid schedule. Though eating every two hours, I firmly believe, is key for sucess. So if, one day, it has been two hours and baby is fussing and needs a nap, maybe I'll just sip some bottled fruit juice til I can get to the juicer. Or if we need to head out, I might have to grab an apple and some carrots to tide me over.
And now bedtime for this tired mama. Early to bed, early to rise. It is the "parents are visiting" schedule ;) love them both!
8 days down . . . 13 to go!
Jenny!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am still enjoying your blogs. It will sure be interesting when we start the detox! Tomorrow we should eat lots of fruits & vegatables, so Christina says.
:-)
I definitely don't want you to be frustrsted or disappointed either if you don't make it to 21! Too bad we don't live closer!! :-( You're always welcome to stay with us. :-) :-) I know, well, at least for a day anyways. Flexibility is a good thing to always remind yourself of when you're home doing it by yourself. You will do what you can do! you are doing an AMAZING JOB!!! I am SO impressed with what you've done so far. From the beginning, it took a lot of organization!! you are doing it!! we'll talk soon and definitely see ya'll on monday!! Enjoy the day with your family!!!
Love you,
Sarah
Day 8 first day of coming off the detox. The salad greens with pico de gallo was so good. Concerned about gaining weight back, but resigned to the fact that I will most likely will. Trying my best to 3.5 pounds off, which is 1/2 of my total weight loss for 7 days.
ReplyDeleteDay 10 for Grandma.... Third day of coming off detox. JP and Grandma decided to splurge yesterday evening. Enjoyed Applebee's so much. Very concerned about what eating, chewing more than vegies and fruits would mean for my baby like, squeaky clean colon, especially since we'll be traveling back home ALL day today. I choose island grill shrimp with rice and seasonal vegies. According to the detox, I was supposed to get vegie soup and one serving of rice. The seasonal vegies were still raw broccoli, carrots, zuchinni with out heavy butter/fat. I passed off all but 3 baby shirmps to hubby, who was happy with my detox plan! I didn't experience any harsh results overnight from eating the protien earlier than scheduled. When I weighed before leaving jp's house, I was surprised to see that I had once again lost the weight I found on day 7 and 8. So, I am back down to that 7 in 7. This will definately help me today as I am traveling with hubby to stay close to the plan of coming off detox. Today I get a raw vegies for lunch, rice and protien shake for dinner, plus all the yummy stuff that is scheduled for detox. Little Anna was a real Booger Butt most of the night, prayers for her Mama as they also "detox" from Grandma and Grandpa.
ReplyDeleteGreetings!
ReplyDeleteDay #1:
Joseph and I are ready to stop! lol Okay, not that severe..here you go for all those who want to know.
We started off this morning with tea, berry drink ( which we made) and 8 oz. of yummy water!! We survived that alright. As 10:00 approached, we were both quite hungry. Since our green powder didn't arrive yet, we made our own green drink. Thankfully we can do that since we are home today. :-) I found it on the internet, Dr. Oz's green drink. Here's the recipe:
1. Core 2 apples
2. Place all ingredients in a blender with 4 ounces of water or a handful of ice cubes
3. Puree quickly for 1 minute
Ingredients:
2 apples, 1 big handful of tasty spinach, 1/2 cup parsley, 1 celery stick (chopped), 1 thumbnail length of ginger (peeled), lemon juice (juice only and peel for zest), 1 medium cucumber.
Note, I didn't mind the green drink. It may have been because I was hungry! Joseph on the other hand did NOT like it!!
We were also cooking a ginger carrot soup ( in the detox book). We decided to boil it on the stove and put another in the crock pot. I was quite hungry so we may have some free soup on day 1!!
So there you go, that's the latest!!! :-) I'll be sure to post as often as I can. :-)
The ginger carrot soup = pond scum
ReplyDelete*looks like*
Those were Joseph's words..lol
lol....yeah, well stay clear of the italian bean soup because it will set you (*& (um that is gut) on FIRE! Actually, you could make it and leave the cayenne pepper out. We were excited about tasting those green beans, but only tasted the cayenne!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you guys tomorrow. By tomorrow evening, you will feel so much better. REALLY!
Thanks Sue! say a prayer for us! This is really quite the adventure. We juiced a little while ago and I am still trying to gulp it down! lol *sigh* maybe I should go try a little more!
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!
